Welcome to our Catholic parish. We are a Christian community in Snowdonia National Park, Dolgellau and Bala – two delightful towns surrounded by landscapes of great beauty.
In Dolgellau we are committed through faith to opening the door of our hearts and our church to God and to all who come here. We’re open to all within the local community and beyond. We’re sensitive to the joys and pains around us. Through the power of the eucharist, prayer and meditation we find strength to serve and will work alongside people of any faith or none who are dedicated to building God’s Kingdom of peace, justice and love, a space where peoples’ gifts can be developed and their dreams realised.
Our much admired church, a grade 2 listed building, was opened in 1966, by a remarkable Maltese priest, Fr Francis Scalpell and we ensure it remains open every day – please feel free to visit, to enjoy the building, to pray, or just to sit and find a few moments of peace and quiet in a busy world!
Our small Bala community, named after Portugal’s famous pilgrimage shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, welcomes pilgrims from all over the country to the beautiful tourist town of Bala. Pilgrims come here, often in bus loads, to our small but lovely church in Bala’s high street. Covid has hit us badly and we are currently fund-raising and opening new social media sites. We are also about to offer new eco-pilgrimage ideas, particularly for the young, by the river, lake and forest around Bala (watch this space) We will be delighted to welcome all who come to visit and will greatly value any support you can offer.
